Deathrats repress now in

Pressed to supplement their tour.. the repress is limited to two hundred copies only, half with the band, this will be limited and for direct mailorder only. For those of you currently unfamiliar with the band, let me leave you with their spotlight in MRR:

One of the best hardcore demos I’ve heard in a long-ass time. DEATHRATS play ‘dark and heavy’ hardcore that is likely influenced by bands such as DROPDEAD, DEATHREAT, TO WHAT END?, and SKITSYSTEM among others, with a lot of great riffs, cool instrument breaks, crucial feedback at exactly the right moments, and vocal phrasing that works really well with the music, all played a bit faster than usual for this style. Christine’s livid vocals seriously send chills down my spine, and there’s a refreshing earnestness and intelligence to her anger, as she takes on people that project their own misery onto how they treat others, how the male gaze keeps her from developing a positive self-image on her own terms, and how the need for girls to stop hating each other and band together is just as relevant now as it was in the heyday of Riot Grrrl. All of this serves as further proof that girls/women in punk have more reason to be pissed than their male counterparts…

Sex Prisoner EP review

These guys (well currently just one guy in this one) do a great job reviewing my stuff. Breakdowns aplenty!

Torrents, how do they work?

Well I sort of get torrents, I uploaded a few and if you fine folks want to download these file s and start seeding them it’d be much appreciated.  If this goes well I’ll put up some more stuff on torrent.

Photos from 11/13/2010 – Kakka Hatta 77, Acid Reflux, and Burma

Burma

Band from Finland, AR last tour ever, and youngblood fast hardcore (shouted due to a dead PA) makes for a rad show!

Brighten your day

Colors

We went back in time to see what our logo would look like. Ten thousand gigawatts later and this is the result. Highly influenced by skate culture of the late 80’s, crazy colors ensued. Word of note, no I don’t do drugs.

Arizona/Philly tight homies

Got a big gang photo shoutout from Sex Prisoner, Magnum Force, and Backslider on Backslider’s tour out west. Heard it was a killer show, not sure if Backslider gave a shoutout to TLAL between each song like they said, actually that sounds like it would be fairly annoying so I hope they didn’t. This is the new breed of powerviolence/grindviolence for 2010/2011.  Photo courtesy of Danny Johnson.

Free copies of the new Magrudergrind – Crusher CD

Much Respect: Ira Rogers

Ira is a Raleigh youngblood who books most of the local house shows, rages hard for every (worthwhile) band, and plays in quite a few amazing bands including Thieves and Stripmines. He is a music animal and blasts apart a drumset like a raging baboon. He is full of energy and excitement about good music. Much respect to Ira for gluing the pieces of the Raleigh scene back together and uniting the older and younger crowds.
